Charity number: 274100

History
The Clothworkers' Foundation was set up by The Clothworkers' Company in 1977. It is the independent charitable arm for the Company's charitable work.

Since its establishment, we have made grants totalling £82m.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Programmes open to applications:

Main and Small Grants Programmes
The Foundation aims to improve the lives of people and communities, particularly those that face disadvantage.
It seeks to achieve this by funding a range of capital projects which meet its grant eligibility criteria, and which fall under one or more of its specified programme areas.
In addition, to ensure that links with its textiles roots are maintained, the Foundation funds textiles projects which it considers to be of national importance.

WE DO NOT MAKE GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS.

Programmes closed to applications (we will not consider applications to these programmes):

Proactive Grants Programme
The Proactive Grants Programme funds specific fields in which the Foundation aims to make a significant impact over a period of time.
The themes and priorities of the Proactive Grants Programme may change over time and grants can be strategic and/or tactical.
The current areas are autism, and conservation.
Potential grant beneficiaries are selected by the Foundation, and unsolicited applications are not accepted.

Regular Grants Programme
The Foundation has selected a small number of organisations which receive grants each year, subject to annual assessment by the Trustees.
The beneficiaries are primarily chosen to discharge specific objects of subsidiary trusts, and are largely in the areas of relief in need, education, and textiles.
It is unusual for new charities to be added to the programme, and potential grant beneficiaries are selected by the Foundation - unsolicited applications are not accepted.
