Tracing your Ancestors

Register of apprentices, 1606-1641If your ancestor was a Citizen and Clothworker of London he or she should appear in the Company’s membership records.

The Company's Archive holds Registers of Freemen from 1545 to the present day and Registers of Apprentices survive for the period 1606-1908.  These records represent the Company’s best source of genealogical information about its past members.

We are pleased to announce that these records are now available to search online via the Records of London's Livery Companies Online (ROLLCO), a freely accessible new resource bringing access to the membership records of nine of London's Livery Companies.

The ROLLCO database has been designed to accommodate a variety of research interests, with search tools to serve researchers looking for information about specific individuals and a suite of tools to allow for the querying of quantitative trends across the records of the participating companies.
