Programme Areas
The Clothworkers’ Foundation welcomes applications for the following two grants programmes:
Main Grants Programme, open to charities with a turnover of under £10m
Small Grants Programme, for grants up to £10,000 open to charities with a turnover of under £250,000
The Clothworkers’ Foundation does not accept applications for the following programmes

Main Grants Programme
We welcome applications from UK registered charities with a turnover of under £10m that work in the following areas:
• Encouragement of Young People
Including (but not exclusively) organisations working with economically disadvantaged youth in deprived areas.
• Social Inclusion
Support for organisations which seek to tackle such problems as substance abuse, homelessness, offending and family breakdown.
• Elderly
Priority will be given to projects focusing on those in need or at risk of social exclusion.
• Disability
Support for organisations tackling the needs of the physically and/or mentally disabled.
• Visual impairment
Support for organisations addressing the needs of blind or visually impaired people.
• Textiles
UK academic institutions involved in textiles, technical textiles and colour science. Heritage projects involving textiles, particularly those of national importance.
A charity which has received an offer of a grant cannot apply again for at least five years.
Small Grants Programme
Open to charities which work within the above programme areas with an annual turnover under £250,000. Under this Programme grants awarded are between £500 and £10,000 for capital costs. Funding will be available in two tranches each year, with applications being accepted from January and July retrospectively.
A charity which has received an offer of a grant cannot apply again for at least five years.
Regular Grants Programme
The Foundation has selected a small number of charities to which it makes annual grants; these are generally for relief in need but also include educational bursaries in chosen subjects.
The Foundation WILL NOT ACCEPT UNSOLICITED APPLICATIONS for inclusion in this programme.
Proactive Grants Programmes
The Foundation had selected a small number of initiatives where it wishes to make an impact through a five-year programme of giving.
The Foundation WILL NOT ACCEPT UNSOLICITED APPLICATIONS for inclusion in this programme.
The first such programme is in mathematics education.
