The Clothworkers' Foundation
GRANTS ASSISTANT
£23,000 - £25,000
City of London
A major grant-making trust and the charitable arm of The Clothworkers’ Company is seeking to recruit a Grants Assistant to replace the incumbent, who is moving to another grant-making charity. The Foundation aims through its funding to improve the quality of life, particularly for people and communities that face disadvantage. As a major grant-maker with a permanent endowment, the Foundation adopts a flexible and responsive approach to its giving to a full range of UK registered charities. Along with its associated Trusts, it donated £6.5 million in calendar year 2007.
The Grants Assistant is responsible for providing complete administrative support to the Grants Manager, operating the database (GIFTS), maintaining grant records, and undertaking research as necessary. Applicants should have at least two years’ experience in the voluntary/charitable sector, and have gained a good understanding of the challenges facing that sector. Applications are invited from those with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and educated to degree level or equivalent. They will work as part of a small team, and be expected to use their initiative to resolve issues and tasks set by the Grants Manager. Computer literacy is essential; familiarity with Access/Excel an advantage. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to manage and prioritise their work schedule, be forward thinking, and have good interpersonal skills. They will need to be proactive and adaptable, and show a willingness to learn and take on new tasks. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of the Foundation, as part of a long-standing City institution, yet working in modern and convivial surroundings. The new Grants Assistant will be expected to take up the appointment in early August.
