RAF 47 Squadron
Since 2012, we have had an affiliation with 47 Squadron, a unit which flies C130 Hercules aircraft out of Brize Norton. The Squadron is responsible for providing all Tactical Air Transport capability (aerial delivery of both personnel and equipment) to UK Defence in support of planned and contingency operations both in the UK and overseas.
The Master and Clerk first visited the Squadron in May 2012, where they explored a Hercules on the ground. Subsequent opportunities have included a group of Liverymen being invited to visit RAF Brize Norton to tour the base and view a presentation on the history and current operations of the Squadron.
Representatives from the Squadron have attended a number of events at Clothworkers’ Hall.
To mark the affiliation, they have presented to the Company a framed picture of a C-130 Hercules aircraft and more recently a silk replica of the Squadron's flag.
We have contributed to Squadron family outings and towards the Annual Squadron Dinner.
